This Mother's Day we reflect on all the moms, future moms, and motherly figures who have given us everything and made us into the people we are today.
For ALL moms: as you're busy making the world a better place, remember to treat yourself—you deserve it! And there's no better treat than the gifts of skincare (and self-care!). Today, we have dermatologist Dr. Anna Karp who is sharing her tips and tricks to getting and maintaining beautiful skin.
"All of your skincare products will benefit from being chilled!
We want our products to be as effective for as long as possible and that is where chilling really helps."

Skincare Fridge Benefits
Keeping skincare chilled in the Cooluli Beauty 12L skincare fridge not only creates a spa-like environment but it offers a multitude of benefits as well! According to Dr. Karp, “All of your skincare products will benefit from being chilled! We want our products to be as effective for as long as possible and that is where chilling really helps.”
Products such as vitamin C serums need to be kept in cool, dark conditions so that they work better and last longer. A study shows that “… the storage at a lower temperature could effectively slow the rate of degradation of vitamin C.”*

Your Routine: Keep It Simple!
When sticking to a skincare routine—simple is best—and consistency is key. The more products you have and the constant change in products might cause your skin to break out.
Dr. Karp says, “I recommend my patients have a simple, consistent routine. For most people, a vitamin C serum followed by a moisturizing sunscreen in the AM is enough. At night, after gentle cleansing, a moisturizer with a retinol product on top works well.”
Prep for Spring & Summer
With spring and summer approaching, it's important to keep SPF in mind. “I think SPF is important all year round, rain or shine” says Dr. Karp. The sun is out even when it’s not shining and protecting your skin with SPF is your first line of defense. “Aim for a product that is at least SPF 30 for your face,” says Dr. Karp. Sunscreen is essential to help prevent sun spots, wrinkles, and aging.
Seasonal Skincare
Each season comes with different challenges (and advantages too!) so your skincare needs to shift and make adjustments. According to Dr. Karp, “In the winter we definitely need to moisturize more and a heavier cream helps. In the warmer months, a lighter moisturizer is enough.”
Dr. Karp's Eye-Deal Skin Fridge Tip
“I especially love it for my eye creams. I think chilled products definitely help with puffiness which is so common on the eyelid skin. It also helps with dark circles because the cooler product helps constrict blood vessels that are most visible under the eye.”
